MORE INFORMATION
A 1-3 hour presentation on what Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are and how ACEs impact individuals, schools/organizations, & communities. This is a foundational training for all facets of a community to really begin to understand why a trauma-informed approach is imperative in all relationships & organizations.
MORE INFORMATION
This is a deeper dive into what is happening in the brain & nervous system when someone or a community experiences trauma that is unresolved. This is also a foundational course for educators who want to teach students in the classroom about their own brains and nervous systems. I can also come to present to a class of students. The presentation can be adjusted to be age-appropriate. I have taught Kindergarten – 12th grade this information. Presentation length depends on the age/group.
This session explains what nervous system regulation is and what it is not, and gives tools for adult self-regulation, as well as bringing regulation tools into the classroom and school setting.
This session is meant to be done in small group or one-on-one setting. Kara can work with one educator or a small group of teachers to help support a classroom in moving more toward being trauma-informed. Each session and program will be customized for the grade/students.
Kara is not an official Bal-a-vis-x Practitioner, but she can teach others a few exercises from bal-a-vis-x that can help build regulation and students’ “window of tolerance” for stress in a systematic way.
Learn a wide range of simple chair yoga practices that you can draw on at any moment to reduce stress, increase engagement, improve performance, and build community. Walk away confident in your ability to guide your students and colleagues through settling in strategies, brain breaks, transitions, relaxation practices, and energizing techniques, all while seated in a chair!
